Newborn Booking Guidelines
You’re already head over heels in love with your baby, a stronger love than any love you’ve ever felt before, but there’s that nagging knowledge that one day your little one will leave the nest. I am right there with you, girl!
Getting newborn portraits is so much more than just documenting what your baby looks like when they’re born. Images have the incredible power to provoke feelings and conjure up the sweetest memories. In the near future, you will look through them and feel joy, love, and nostalgia and forget, for just a moment, about the sleepless nights and the epic up-their-back diaper blowouts.
Even in the distant future, when your baby is heading off to college, you’ll be able to look back and remember more than just a vague sense of happiness. You’ll be reminded of the softness of their skin and hair, the smell of the top of their head after a bath, and the sound of the little noises they made in their sleep. You’ll laugh at the memory that they pooped on every single blanket during their newborn session and smiled every time!
Think even further still, to one day when you are gone, and all they have left are the portraits of you together, your unconditional love clearly captured on your face, before you knew anything about them. How special will that portrait be to your “baby” then?
Booking your newborn portrait session:
When the portrait session takes place:
The best age to photograph newborns is generally
1-2 weeks old.
When to book:
I recommend booking in your 2nd or 3rd trimester. If you wait until after your baby is born, I can usually still find a day to get you on the schedule. However, we’re definitely on a time crunch at that point to try to fit you in during that “ideal” window of time! And I wouldn’t want you stressing about your portrait session on top of being sleep-deprived, hormonal, and juggling medical appointments and extended family on top of adjusting to your family’s new normal!
